Bitcoin Mining Can Power Neuroscience, Says Matrix Chief AI Scientist

This year BlockShow Asia, Yangdong Deng, chief scientific officer AI of the matrix a Blockchain startup, explained how to insert artificial intelligence (AI) in the Blockchain ecosystem, will allow the use of Bitcoin mining computing power for scientific innovation.

According to Dan, the current computing capacities are used in bitcoin mining operations 8.23x1022 of floating point operations per second (flops for short), while the total computing power in the world is 1.2x1023 flip flops. According to these calculations, bitcoin mining consumes 17% of the entire world's computing power, justifying the frequent accusations that Bitcoin mining is wasteful.

The matrix aims to reinvent the data mining algorithms through the inclusion of AI in equation system using Bayesian mining using Markov chain Monte Carlo (MCMC). Because the function evaluation similar to the traditional function, they work well for Bitcoin mining.

According to Dan, using artificial intelligence, the computing power used to verify transactions in the Bitcoin network can be used for other purposes outside the world of cryptocurrency.

One example, he cited their research-simulation network of the brain requires about 1018 flops, while the complete modeling of metabolic networks requires 1025 flops.

According to Dan, other important numbers-crypto applications, which require high computational power, simulation of chemical reactions, medical diagnoses and complex financial models.

Intel recently filed a patent application for a Blockchain system that also uses energy, used in mining cryptocurrencies for the development of science - in this case, especially for genetic sequencing.

The conference BlockShow Asia in November this year has included a number of innovative projects in addition to the Matrix. 1500 entrepreneurs and experts gathered at an event in Singapore to share and discover the latest developments in the industry.
